Lepiarczyk & Smelkowski
Lepiarczyk & Smelkowski is an art-rock project created by two experienced musicians – composer and pianist Krzysztof Lepiarczyk and vocalist Marek Smelkowski. Their long-standing collaboration combines ambitious progressive sounds with literature and poetry, while going far beyond the traditional concept of sung poetry. Their music is filled with atmosphere, emotion and rock energy.
Krzysztof Lepiarczyk – pianist, keyboardist and composer, founder of such bands and projects as Loonypark, Meteopata and Padre, with numerous original albums to his name. For many years, he has been active on the Polish progressive rock and art-rock scene. He is the composer behind the music that forms the foundation of the Lepiarczyk & Smelkowski project – from the material recorded with Padre to elaborate compositions inspired by the poetry of Stanisław Wyspiański and Adam Asnyk.
Marek Smelkowski – vocalist, guitarist, composer and lyricist, active on the progressive rock scene since 2003. Founder of Liquid Shadows, he has also been involved with projects including Padre, Millenium and tRK Project. His distinctive, deep voice and expressive approach to interpretation make him not only the vocalist of Lepiarczyk & Smelkowski, but also the narrator of their musical stories.
The collaboration between the two artists has resulted in three significant albums: the art-rock album “Padre – From Faraway Island”, “Jakżesz ja się uspokoję”, featuring the poetry of Stanisław Wyspiański, and “Album Pieśni”, with music composed to the poetry of Adam Asnyk.
On stage in Legionowo, Lepiarczyk and Smelkowski will be joined by:
Igor Smelkowski – guitar, a young guitarist and composer with live and festival experience;
Wiktor Pieprzyk – bass, composer and session musician with a strong interest in jazz;
Tomasz Tomczak – an experienced drummer and session musician who provides a powerful foundation for the band’s rhythm section.
A Lepiarczyk & Smelkowski concert brings together art rock, progressive rock and the works of great Polish poets – music for those who expect more from a live performance than sound alone: emotion, storytelling and a truly unique atmosphere.
